Pardons

Apply for a Pardon

If you are not eligible for expungement, you may consider applying for a pardon. Pardons are given out by the governor, usually at the end of his/her term.

The application requires 3 letters of recommendation, as well as a letter from the person seeking a pardon. There is no cost to apply for a pardon.  Download the application for full instructions.

If you receive a full pardon, you become eligible to apply for expungement, even if your convictions would not otherwise be expungeable.

What if I already have a pardon?

You are now eligible to apply for expungement.  Follow the instructions here. You still need to request a Certificate of Eligibility.  Be sure to check the box stating that you have a pardon.
